The Roman Day
The Oak Class had a fantastic learning opportunity through the Roman Day which was funded by our PTFA. The Children did research beforehand on the Britons so that they had a good idea of who they were role playing at the beginning of the day.
The Children had the opportunity to discuss which characters they were going to be and also listened to some background information on their tribe. They also listened to an oral story telling of the invasion of a neighbouring tribe by the Romans. During the day the Children were able to look at a range of artefacts including clothing, pottery, weapons and jewellery. Some of which dated back to 50AD, and would have been used by the Britons.
We were fortunate to have a real life Roman solider come to School and help the Children get into character for a mock Roman battle,
