2013/2014 Sports Presentation

Celebration of Sporting Success for CCC students

Thursday 3rd of July saw the sportshall as full as normal, but only this time no one was wearing PE kit!  The event that had drawn in excess of 150 students was the PE Department's annual Sports Presentation Awards, where every College sports team is awarded a ‘Most Improved’ and ‘Player of the Season’ award as well as the overall prestigious awards of ‘Athlete of the Year’.

Each team had a quick summary of results before their awards were announced; allowing for the odd anecdote to be remembered on what, for Chulmleigh Community College, has been its most successful year in recent memory.  Following the team awards came the highlight of the afternoon, the nominations for the years 7& 8 and 9 & 10 boys and girls ‘Athlete of the Year’ where each nominee was discussed and their successes highlighted before the overall winner  announced.

For the girls year 7 & 8 award, the nominees were, Anna Downs, Laura Fraser-Smith and Chloe Cole, for the boys, Aidan Davies, George Sulisaukas and Luke Philp, with Anna and Luke being named Sportspeople of the year.  In the year 9 & 10 category, the three female nominees were Liv Rice, Bronwyn Counsins and Leoni Bishop and for the boys, Dan Thorne, Fenton Davies and Jack Povey, with Leoni and Dan winning the honours.

Sports Leaders award were given to Molly Harris, Vicky Turner and Dan Thorne for the number of hours they have logged and helped support the PE Department this year.

Special mention to Matt Hamill and Will Mulligan, who alongside their year 11 studies supported the year 7 football team as well as Mr Godwin, Mr Stevens, Mr Covington, Mrs Parish and Sam Burgess for their continued support again throughout the year.

Congratulations to every award winner, but credit to every single student that has represented their College this year and without whom we would not be able to put out the number of sides that we do.  Enjoy the summer break and hopefully next year will prove to be another sport success filled year at Chulmleigh Community College.
