Who's Who

Sarah Healey -  Deputy Primary Executive Headteacher

I am responsible for all the Trust Primary schools and have over 20 years’ experience in primary education and have been the headteacher of four different rural primary schools before joining the Chulmleigh family. I have always found my job incredibly rewarding, so working with a group of schools and the children and staff within them, is a real joy.

Suzie Pinn - Head of School, Teacher and DSL

I am the Head of School at East Worlington where I have been the Headteacher since 2003.  I feel that it is vitally important that school is a fun and stimulating place with a rich and diverse curriculum which is taught both inside and outside the classroom. Our school is popular with parents because the whole staff share my ethos and are committed to providing the children with all of the support that they need to become confident individuals who enjoy school and find success in all aspects of their school life.

I am a mother of 4 and as a result of this and my own experiences, I understand how important every child is and so I teach every child as if they were my own.

Christine Pugsley - Senior Teacher, SEND Lead and Deputy DSL

This is my eighth year at East Worlington and I love being part of our very special school and family. I have been teaching for over 20 years and during this time I have completed further study and a Masters in Special Educational Needs. I am the SEN Lead for the school and believe that all children have the right to an inclusive education.  My latest learning involves Makaton training and enabling all young people to have a voice! I have recently been appointed as Senior Teacher for the school and look forward to the opportunities and further learning this will bring. I also look after music, RE and art across the school. I love watching the children blossom in their ability and confidence as they move through the school and take on the opportunities to perform in our annual performances.

Zoe Heywood - Teacher

I teach upper oaks (year 5/6) Tuesday to Friday. This is my third year of teaching Oak’s class at East Worlington Primary School. I have been teaching for over 12 years now and love teaching Key Stage 2.

When I’m not in the classroom I love to spend time with my family. I love to bake and read in my free time and spend time outdoors.

Kim Burrow - Teacher

I have been teaching across EYFS and KS1 for my entire teaching career. I strive to make my lessons fun, engaging and as exciting as possible. I have a real interest in Phonics and Early Reading.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, taking our dog on long walks, playing hockey and netball.

Julie Atherton - Teacher

I have been teaching Early Years and KS1 for 28 years and I never tire of watching our youngest pupils embrace their learning with boundless enthusiasm – it is a genuine privilege to be in this role.

I love the great outdoors and enjoy walking Jazz and Wiggles, our Springer Spaniels in the glorious Devon countryside. I like to cycle, go on picnics and I love Summer swims in the sea, coming out for a little warm up and a read, before jumping straight back in again!

Amber Reed - Nursery Manager

Hello, my name is Amber. I am the manager at Early Worlies. I joined the team at East Worlington in January 2025. I have experience of working with children between the age of nine months to reception and love being part of their early journey into education. The thing I love most is that children learn so much through play and exploring and that every day is different. I have a passion for making learning fun and exciting inside and outside a classroom environment. My aim is for children to feel safe enough with us to step out of their comfort zone take on new challenges to reach their states and achievements.

Heather Ford

I currently work in Acorns with Mrs Pugsley. I spend the majority of my time teaching the youngest members of the school.

I have been working in the school since September 2018 (over 7 years), across the school, with many different hats from HLTA, MTA, and TA.

My favourite part of my job is those tiny learning moments in everyday life.

My passions are my family, reading, and the love of opening up the incredible world of reading and books to all children. My goal is to get children involved with imaginative play through the love of reading.
