  • Small Group Open Events October 2021

    Due to Devon being in a Covid Enhanced Response Area until 4th October, we have taken the difficult decision to change the way we conduct our open events by replacing the College Open Evening on Tuesday 21st September with a wide range of smaller and more personal events. We are very keen to meet prospective parents/carers and pupils and are delighted to be able to offer a ‘package’ of Covid-safe opportunities to help inform your choice of secondary school for September 2022.
    Small group tours – wide range of dates available
    We are offering small group tours with our Executive Headteacher Michael Johnson, Deputy Executive Headteacher Neil Payne and SENDCO Laura Mackie. After school for those who may not be able to visit in working hours and morning tours for those who wish to visit during a normal school day.  Being able to see the school ‘in action’ provides an excellent window into what we offer here at Chulmleigh College, and with the tours being led by our Senior Leadership Team in a small group environment, you will have ample opportunities to ask any questions you may have.

    Year 6 Taster Morning Saturday 16th October 9am-12pm We are delighted to be able to offer prospective pupils the chance to attend a Taster Morning at the College, where they will experience a range of lessons and activities. https://tinyurl.com/CCY6TasterMorning2021

Maintaining Children's Safety and Security on Premises Policy

Statement of Intent

We maintain the highest possible security of our premises to ensure that each child is safely cared for during their time with us.

Procedures

Children's personal safety

  • We ensure all staff have been checked for criminal records by an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
  • All children are supervised by adults at all times.
  • Whenever children are on the premises at least two adults are present.
  • We carry out daily risk assessments to ensure children are not made vulnerable within any part of our premises, nor by any activity.

Security

  • Systems are in place for the safe arrival and departure of children.
  • The times of the children's arrivals and departures are recorded on daily registers
  • The arrival and departure times of adults, staff, volunteers and visitors are recorded on daily registers
  • Our systems prevent unauthorised access to our premises.
  • Our systems prevent children from leaving our premises unnoticed.
  • We challenge anybody who is not familiar to staff
  • We ensure that personal possessions, including mobile phones belonging to staff and volunteers are securely stored during sessions.
